About Mary's Place

Mary's Place is a non-profit refugee outreach center in Northwest Rochester, NY. Our mission is to reach out in love, hope, and service to refugees of all faiths and nationalities, especially those in the Maplewood/Edgerton neighborhood.

We feed, clothe, offer English tutoring for children and adults, hold pre-K classes, tutor K-12 students, supply students with school materials, lead field trips, and provide a safe community atmosphere. We also offer one-on-one casework counseling, assistance with Green Cards, driving permits/tests, and housing. Above all, we are a family.

Mary's Place is currently recruiting volunteers with a teaching background to help with our new English for new learners program. Retired teachers, stay at home mom and dads with teaching backgrounds and students currently enrolled in an Education program are all encouraged to apply! Must be available afternoons from 12-2, and to make a long term commitment.

Location and Hours

Mary's Place is a Refugee Outreach Center located in the Northwest Maplewood area of Rochester, NY.

  • Mary's Place is open Mondays and Fridays from Noon to 5:00 p.m.
  • On Tuesdays and Thursdays we are open Noon ’til 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays we are open from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Donations are always welcome and accepted weekdays during our regular hours. Saturday donations are accepted from 10am to noon.

Monetary donations (tax-exempt) may be made payable to Mary's Place LLC and mailed to Mary's Place, 414 Lexington Ave., Rochester, NY 14613 or thru PayPal on this website.

Donations Needed

Mary's Place accepts all clothing donations, linens, including blankets and small household items. For larger items or for baby equipment (strollers, cribs, etc.), please call first at 270-8626.

We are currently in need of spiral bound single subject notebooks for year-round use by children and adults alike, printer paper, paper for preschoolers to draw on, computer mice, 12 computers that are WiFi enabled, various Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations. Boys' and young men's clothing is always needed, as well. We also accept food donations of rice, and pre-packaged snacks for our after school tutoring program.

For Christmas gifts, we would appreciate art supplies (drawing paper, paints, drawing pencils, etc.) With winter approaching, we have started to collect warm winter clothing, including winter coats, boots, hats, mittens, etc.


We also now accept donations via PayPal! You don't need to have a PayPal account, and can use any credit or debit card to make your PayPal donation. Additionally, since PayPal is handling the details, you can be assured of the security and simplicity of this donation option.
