Program Description: Mary’s Place offers assistance to walk-in clients in order to help them navigate through the department of social services, assist with medical appointments and health insurance, assist with housing, read mail, make phone calls, any other paperwork assistance needed. Note: translation services are not always available for every language spoken by clients.
Program Days/Times: Monday – Friday 11am-4pm
Volunteer Description: Meeting with individuals and families to assist them with documentation, phone calls, and other tasks that require fluency in English. Volunteer must complete intake forms and complete case notes in the Mary’s Place database.
Time Commitment: Minimum 1 day 3 hour shift per week. Requires a minimum of 3-month commitment.
Training: Volunteers will shadow an advanced case manager for a minimum of 1 month. They will be paired with a student social work intern for an extended period until they feel comfortable taking on individual casework. Volunteers will report to the Director of Social Work.
